From June to August 2018 Dr. Teresa Pfeiffenberger ran a study to understand the awareness of HPV and related diseases amongst women in both rural and urban areas of the Yogyakarta Special Region. A very strong dependency on education levels was found. E.g. women from the rural area with high levels of education were not less aware than the women from urban areas. Nevertheless, as women in rural areas are often less educated, the percentage of awareness was low. There is a big need to promote health education and education in general for women especially living in rural areas.

A follow up visit for autumn 2019 is planned to reevaluate implemented health education events and to strengthen the relations between both, the Austrian and Yogyakarta team.  For more information see latest projects
